LG and Qualcomm – Cross Domain Controller (xDC) platform for vehicles

LG partnered with Qualcomm for the Cross Domain Controller (xDC) platform for vehicles, utilising Snapdragon Ride Flex SoC they managed to integrate the Advance Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) in a single controller, capable of managing multiple tasks at once, from both systems.
From our personal opinion we will never recommend a solution like this because the drivers need a no risk no crash solution when they are driving the car or worse when the car drives itself. No one wants a crash like the one in the movie Upgrade.
With this solution drivers and passangers wil be able to acces ADAS alerts, real time traffic and personalized recommendations (*all without distractions).
The Flex SoC has obtained Automotive Safety Integrity Level (ASIL)-D certification.
Will update the article with the automotive makers that will partner with LG and Qualcomm and will put this kind of tech in their cars.
